The Strategic Plan for the City of Knowledge is presented at the second meeting of the Consultative Council of this project to be developed in Setúbal, which takes place on the 29th, at 3 pm, in the Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho.
The Strategic Plan for the City of Knowledge, a project by The Pitroda Group LLC that has a close partnership with the Setúbal City Council, defines how functional and urban articulation with the city will be carried out and identifies the areas of knowledge appropriate to the objectives and reality of Setúbal and the region.
The plan, which will be presented to the members of the Consultative Council of the City of Knowledge, is being prepared by the consultant CEDRU – Center for Studies and Regional and Urban Development.
This second meeting of the Advisory Council is also intended to collect contributions from the entities that compose it and to take stock of the innovative project conceived by the group led by entrepreneur Sam Pitroda.
The City of Knowledge of Setúbal, which foresees the construction of modern infrastructures, in an area of 180 hectares in the Vale da Rosa area, close to an important industrial and services hub of the municipality, as well as the campus of the Polytechnic Institute of Setúbal, intends assume itself as a place where people and companies will live, work, cooperate and innovate together.
The creation of a platform capable of geographically concentrating the stakeholders of a given sector, enhancing the exchange of knowledge effectively, is another objective.
For this project, we intend to build offices, residential area, hotel, conference center, hospital, schools and universities, shopping areas and parking lots, as well as leisure, art and culture centers.
The Setúbal City Council is responsible for drawing up a Detailed Plan that allows the implementation of the planned infrastructures, a phase that will occur only after The Pitroda Group LLC ensures the economic and financial sustainability of the project, namely by attracting investors.
In addition to The Pitroda Group LLC and the local authority, the Advisory Council of the City of Knowledge is made up of the five parish councils of the municipality, Municipal Assembly, Port Administration of Setúbal and Sesimbra, AICEP Portugal Global, AISET – Industry Association of the Peninsula of Setúbal and Lisbon Metropolitan Area.
BlueBiz Global Park, Employment and Professional Training Center of Setúbal, Commission for the Coordination and Regional Development of Lisbon and Vale do Tejo, Fundação Escola Profissional de Setúbal and Instituto Politécnico de Setúbal are also members of the Advisory Board.
The first meeting was held on July 20, in a meeting with the participation, by teleconference, of Sam Pitroda.
